Why Professionalism Is Important in Window Installations

Why Professionalism Is Important in Window Installations

Have you ever heard a horror story about a botched window and door installation?

If you talk to anyone who opts for unbelievably low prices at all costs, there’s a good chance you have.

Because, in this life, we almost always get what we pay for. If something seems too good to be true, there’s a good chance that it is.

But with that said, you might be wondering how to tell the difference between a professional and a fly-by-night amateur.

And don’t worry.

We’ve got the answers you’re looking for.

Here’s how to judge installation professionalism in the window and door industry.

1. Certification

Any professional company will use American Architectural Manufacturer’s Association (AAMA) certified window installers. When installers are certified by the AAMA, it means they have gone through rigorous training and testing to ensure they are skilled at their jobs.

And you might be tempted to discount the installer’s skill. But you’d be making a big mistake.

You see, you can spend hundreds more to get the highest level of insulation by purchasing a super expensive window, but if they’re installed incorrectly, that money all goes out the window (almost literally).

Window installation is more complicated than most people realize. And that’s why there’s even a certification process to evaluate an installer’s skill. If it was an easy or mindless job, no one would waste their time with certifications.

Our installers go through the InstallationMasters Training and Certification Program, which is a nationwide program committed to teaching installers proper techniques.

If your installers are certified, you can bet the installation will go off without a hitch. If they aren’t, and you don’t know what to look for, you may never know until it is too late.

2. Always On-Time Work Ethic

As you already know, time is money. When you hire a subcontractor to do any job, you don’t want to have to worry about whether they’ll show up on time or complete the work during the agreed-upon timeframe. Especially if you have multiple projects going at once, if one project runs late, it could impact everything else. And this will cost you a great deal of time, money, and frustration.

When you choose a company that specializes only in windows and doors, they make you a priority, and professionalism is never an issue. The company will have a reputation for completing jobs on time every time. And, in many cases, the peace of mind is incredibly satisfying.

3. Cleanliness

If you’ve ever worked with subcontractors, you know that these types of workers have a tendency to make quite a mess. Subcontractors are typically rushing to get a job done in the shortest possible time, and this often results in a big mess that’s left in their wake.

But it’s not just subcontractors who have a tendency to be messy (and to be fair, not all of them do). Employees without clear direction can also leave a mess behind on the job site.

This is why we vet our employees and monitor their work. Because we know they are extensions of the Newman Windows brand. And their mess would be our mess.

At Newman Windows, we only hire employees, never subcontractors.  Our employees take great pride in their work. They are professional and in the habit of treating every job site as if it were their home.

Professionalism matters in virtually any industry, but when it comes to choosing a window and door company, this isn’t a job that just anyone can do. Please remember that your windows and doors are a home investment. And a poor choice here can result in big headaches later on.

If your windows aren’t installed properly, you could be inviting the elements into your home. In extreme cases, this can mean water damage. But it will always equate to drafty windows that allow hot or cold air into your home and can cause your energy bills to go through the roof. And poor seals are like a welcome mat for bugs and other pests to enter your home. No one wants that.

If you think about what you stand to save with a bottom dollar company, it’s never going to be worth the risk of having your windows and doors installed poorly.

At Newman Windows and Doors, professionalism is our comfort zone. When you’re ready to talk about replacing your windows and/or doors, give us a call for a complimentary in-home discovery session or stop into one of our area showrooms.
